Wilsonart go square with Synergii

Shildon, United Kingdom (April 23, 2015) - Wilsonart are relaunching their Synergii designer worksurfaces range to include a Classic Collection and a Trend Collection with square edged profiles. For years, as solid surfaces have increased in popularity in both kitchens and bathrooms, laminate has been the worksurface material of choice for designers based largely on affordability. But thanks to advances in design and production technology laminate worksurfaces, at least from Wilsonart’s revitalised Synergii range, are enjoying a welcome revival for many more reasons than price.

Gone are the days when a laminate worktop meant sludgy porridge or oatmeal in a one-colour-suits-all finish, or a dodgy reproduction of beech butcher’s block. Now, state of the art technology has opened up a whole new world of possibilities in decor design, including photo-realistic finishes that you’d have to take a magnifying glass to, to tell them from the real thing. Look closely at the latest laminate wood or stone effects and such is the accuracy of the reproduction, you could easily be persuaded that the deep richness of walnut and the soft pale tones of oak are real solid wood and that stone finishes such as slate will feel cool to the touch with that almost powdery, matt surface texture replicated to a T. Square-edged, high-gloss granite and quartz effects are equally as convincing too but it’s not just about replicating solid materials; square edged profiles work well in contemporary monotones to create highly individual interiors.

What helps this trick of the eye is of course the evolution of the laminate worksurface edge profile. For those that can remember the bull-nosed profile, haven’t we come a long way? It would have been impossible to kid anyone that a bull-nosed or 10mm profile laminate worksurface was ever a real block of wood or slab of stone but with the introduction of tightly wrapped and square edged profiles it’s a whole different story. Gemma Barratt, Wilsonart’s Product Manager explains,

“We’ve added square edged profiles to the Trend Collection of our Synergii designer worksurfaces range in line with growing trends. With advances in photo-realistic decors, our square edged laminates mimic real wood and stone amazingly well, complementing both traditional and contemporary kitchen styles. Extra thick and thin tops are a huge trend at the moment and being available in 22mm, 38mm and 50mm, our Synergii Trend Collection gives designers more flexibility to achieve the latest kitchen layouts than ever before. And cost benefits aside, our laminate worksurfaces are extremely versatile to design with and easy to install, whether it’s for standard worktop runs, islands or breakfast bars”.

Wilsonart’s Synergii range also includes matching upstands and splashbacks allowing kitchen designs to be not just creative but practical too.
